Research Institute for Byzantine Culture

Τhe Research Institute for Byzantine Culture was founded in 2007 and is located in Mystras, Sparta, Greece. It principally aims at:

• conducting research on Byzantine and Post-Byzantine culture, including History, Archaeology, Arts and Philology, with an additional emphasis on the study of the Peloponnese, particularly the area of Laconia;
• promoting research on an international level and facilitating cooperation with related centres and institutes in Greece and abroad;
• organizing conferences and seminars on Byzantine culture;
• serving as an educational centre for postgraduate students from Greece and abroad.

The Institute also supports the writing of doctoral dissertations.
