The graduates of the Department of Philology have recognised professional rights and, through the multifaceted education they receive during their studies, they can work in Secondary Education or be appointed in the category “University Education PE02” in the public sector, as well as in the private sector. Graduates can actually work as text editors and proofreaders for the periodical and online Press, but also in cultural institutions. Because of the great importance of the Pedagogical and Didactic Competence of our teaching staff , the Department provides for free (with additional consideration of transitional provisions for the years 2015-2021) a Certifi cate of Pedagogical and Didactic Competence as from the academic year 2021-2022 (No 32/07-06-2021 Senate’s decision). The Programme leading to the acquisition of such a Certifi cate includes theoretical education and attending/teaching in Secondary Education schools (high schools of general, technical, art and special education), thus combining the acquisition of educational knowledge with the cultivation of teaching skills, and aims to the understanding of educational theories and practices, In conclusion, it is worth noting that the Certifi cate of Pedagogical and Didactic Competence off ers direct access to every kind of educational institutions of the public and private sector, in Greece and Europe.
The degree of the Department of Philology gives graduates the opportunity to enrol in a Postgraduate Curriculum in Humanities and Cultural Studies.
