George Andreiomenos (1964) holds a BA (Hons.) by the University of Athens (School of Philosophy, Dept. for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, 1986), as well as a PhD by the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom (Faculty of Arts, CBOMGS, 1991).
He is currently Professor for Modern Greek Studies at University of the Peloponnese (School of Humanities and Cultural Studies, Dpt. of Letters, Kalamata, Greece) and Dean of the School of Humanities and Cultural Studies. He has been an Honorary Research Fellow of the Centre for Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern Greek Studies (The University of Birmingham, 1991-1992) and Research Associate to the Division for Military History (Greek Military Staff, 1993-1994).
He has taught at the University of Patras (Dpt. of Education, 1995-1997, Patras, Greece) and the Ionian University (Dpt. for Foreign Languages Translation and Interpretation - Dpt. for Archive and Library Studies, 1997-2008, Corfu, Greece), as well as in various institutions of Higher Education in Greece (School for Tourist Guides, Rhodes, Police Academy, Athens) and abroad (Bosworth Tutors College, Northampton, UK, The University of Mainz, Germany, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic).
His studies and part of his research projects have been financially supported by various scholarships and grants. Furthermore, for a number of years, he has been appointed member of various evaluation committees, such as the Council for Educational Assessment and Certification of the Republic of Cyprus, the State Scholarships Foundation and the Committee for National Exams of the Greek Ministry of Education and the State Literary Award Committees of the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education in Cyprus.
He has supervised nine PhD dissertations, he has been appointed as administrator of the «Heracleitus Research Project», which co-ordinated the fulfilment of eight PhD theses at University of the Peloponnese, while he has served as Deputy Rector for Administration and Personnel of University of the Peloponnese (2013-2017), Vice Chancellor for Administration and Personnel of the same institution (2017-2022), Head of the Dpt. of Letters at the SHCS (2022-2023), Head of the Transnational Graduate Programme in Special Education, organised by University of the Peloponnese, Greece, and Università degli Studi di Torino, Italy, and Chairperson of the Graduate Programme for Byzantine Studies (organised by the Dpt. of Letters of University of the Peloponnese and the Research Institute for Byzantine Culture in Mystras, Greece).
Furthermore, Professor George Andreiomenos is the Head of the Graduate Programme for Greek Studies (organised by the Dpt. of Letters of University of the Peloponnese), as well as the Head of “Nikos Karouzos” Laboratory for the Diachronic Study of Greek Language and Literature.
He has also been appointed as the Director for the publishing programme of Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Foundation of the Academy of Athens.
He has published thirty eight books and almost two hundred and fifty articles, studies and reviews in established journals. He has presented many papers in conferences, held in Greece and abroad, and has given numerous lectures in various fora.
